SUPER NEW MOON SELF-CARE RITUAL
“I Am Fearless”
Guest blogger, Holly Cline, esthetician and owner of Holly Cline Skincare in Seattle, shared her favorite new moon self-care ritual with us. We're sure you'll love her recipe for a luxurious, cleansing bath ritual; the perfect way to let go of old energies that no longer serve you well and set new intentions while nurturing and healing your body and soul.
Holly Cline: The new moon is the phase where the moon is dark in the sky until it eventually becomes visible again as a waxing crescent moon. This is a great time to slow down, engage in deep self reflection and practice self-care. It's a time to be fearless, release the thoughts and patterns that are holding you back, and start envisioning the beautiful things you are destined to be.
I love to start my new moon ritual with a cleansing bath. To evoke good feelings I like to make the bath as beautiful as possible by adding seasonal flowers and herbs. For this particular bath I chose bright fragrant marigolds, eucalyptus leaves and gorgeous dahlias. I then added a homemade bath salt blend of healing herbs and flowers. I’ve shared the recipe below:
Recipe for New Moon Bath Salts:
2 cups Epsom salts
1/2 cup mugwort
1/4 cup dried calendula flowers
1/4 cup dried rose buds
- Using a mortar and pestle, gently crush rose buds into small pieces to release their aroma.
- Pour the rose petals into a bowl, add the mugwort, calendula and Epsom salts.
- Stir until all ingredients are well mixed.
- Add the mixture to a muslin bag or unbleached cheesecloth and tie with a string, then place it in a hot bath and let it steep while you soak.
Of course my self-care ritual is never complete without skincare. Because the new moon is all about renewal, two of my favorite products for a cleansing ritual are the Dr Alkaitis Organic Enzyme Exfoliating Mask (to shed old cells and promote vibrant, healthy new skin,) and the Organic Ageless Facial Elixir, a beautiful, exotic blend of the rarest regenerative and restorative ingredients to be found in nature. The elixir leaves the skin luminous and deeply nourished at the cellular level.
When finished with your cleansing bath, imagine all the negative things you’ve released from your mind swirling down the drain with the water!
After a cleansing bath, I like to put on comfy clothes, light some candles and sit at my altar to continue focusing on my new intentions. You could also simply sip a lovely cup of herbal tea or write in your journal. Whatever you do next, just remember to be fearless and manifest all of the beautiful things you deserve, because you are magic!
Blessed New Moon!
