Gentle Enzymatic Exfoliation: A Guide for Healthier Skin

Are you apprehensive about exfoliating your sensitive skin? Or perhaps you're more worried about over-exfoliating, making your skin prone to thinning, breakouts, or inflammation? Let's discuss the benefits of gentle enzymatic exfoliation for the health of your skin!

At Dr. Alkaitis, we firmly believe that "if it burns, it works" is a widespread misconception. The epidermis of the skin maintains a delicate balance of the necessary microbiome, comprising a healthy mix of beneficial bacteria, viruses, and fungi residing on - and within - the skin's surface. This microbiome contributes significantly to our body's overall health, and disrupting it can have detrimental effects. Are you using treatments like retinol, microdermabrasion, lasers, or peels? Generally, these treatments 'take away' from the skin rather than nourishing it. The combination of aggressive exfoliators with other treatments often disrupts the skin, leading to chemical sensitivities, breakouts, thinning, dehydration, and inflammation.

Nevertheless, gentle exfoliation is a crucial step in skin maintenance. Our entire skincare line has a gentle enzymatic action to it. Our skin care is raw; we manufacture the products without ever heating the ingredients above body temperature. This allows all these beautiful ingredients to retain their enzymatic activity, offering full therapeutic benefits to your skin.

We especially recommend our award-winning Dr. Alkaitis Organic Enzyme Exfoliating Mask and our regenerative Organic Flower Mask for gentle exfoliation. These products won't disrupt your skin's delicate homeostasis. Our products guide your skin into its unique balanced state and help maintain that balance. Think of them as health food for your skin.

The Dr. Alkaitis Organic Enzyme Exfoliating Mask is a highly effective biological peel that will carefully digest dead skin cells without harming living ones. It combines the antioxidant properties of organic superfoods with the skin-brightening, exfoliating properties of a blend of carefully selected enzymes that sweep away dead skin cells. This will allow all of the skin food that you use after to penetrate on a deeper level allowing for healthy glowing skin. The Organic Enzyme Exfoliating Mask is a brightening mask that can help with hyperpigmentation.

The Organic Flower Mask works beautifully as a manual exfoliation scrub when mixed with a few drops of spring water and two pumps of our Organic Nourishing Treatment Oil. This mask is especially helpful for someone with a loss of vitality and enlarged pores. It is a revitalizing mask that brings your complexion back to life. The Organic Flower Mask is bursting with active ingredients and is not recommended for sensitive, irritated, or openly blemished skin.

Here, we've provided some valuable information on the benefits, ingredients, and how to customize each of these wonderful masks to get the most out of them for your unique skin.

Here's to healthy, gently exfoliated, and nourished skin!

KEY INGREDIENTS OF NOTE IN THE ORGANIC ENZYME EXFOLIATING MASK

Formulated with Dr. Alkaitis' Signature Enzyme Exfoliating Complex

The Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui Berry) which is one of the key players in this mask presents an extremely high content of polyphenols, which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The protease blend in Dr. Alkaitis’ Signature Enzyme Exfoliating Complex is designed to cleanse and moisturize the skin, and improve the skin’s surface characteristics and appearance while restoring and maintaining the permeability barrier function of the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the epidermis.

KEY BENEFITS OF THE ORGANIC ENZYME EXFOLIATING MASK
  • Gentle deep cleansing
  • Excellent for sensitive and acne-prone skin
  • Promotes rosy, healthy-looking skin
  • Brightening
  • Gently exfoliating
  • Of special note: this mask is a wonderful treatment to use as a first step to using our products because it clarifies and removes dirt and debris buildup from other products that may contain ingredients that clog the pores and or makeup.

HOW TO USE THE ORGANIC ENZYME EXFOLIATING MASK
  • After cleansing your skin with our Organic Purifying Cleanser, use a damp organic clean warm towel and leave it on your face for several minutes while you relax. This will soften your skin, making it more receptive to the beneficial ingredients in the mask. Our Purifying cleanser when used on a regular basis will naturally and gently exfoliate your skin.
  • Use a teaspoon of the Organic Enzyme Exfoliating Mask and mix it into a thin paste using approximately one teaspoon of purified water.
  • Apply the mask on your face and neck, using your clean fingertips. Avoid the delicate eye area.
  • To keep the ingredients active, don’t allow the mask to dry. You can easily moisturize the mask by misting your face with water.
  • To rinse, wet a clean soft organic cloth with lukewarm water and carefully wipe the mask from your face.
  • It is normal for this mask to leave behind a slight residue and we recommend doing a final cleansing with the Organic Purifying Cleanser before applying any other products.

Note: It is important to leave the mask to work for no longer than 7 minutes because this is a highly effective and active biological peel,. You can use the Organic Enzyme Exfoliating Mask two or three times a month.

CUSTOMIZED USE

To intensify the mask’s properties:

  • Replace the water with one teaspoon of organic goat’s milk yogurt or organic coconut probiotic yogurt and/or organic raw manuka honey or organic yacon syrup.
  • These ingredients are known for their soothing effect on the skin, combining them with our masks amplifies the results. They also help keep the mask moist on your face so ingredients stay active.

  • Add a teaspoon of Flower Mask to the palm of your hand.
  • Blend it with approximately 1 tsp of purified water to form a smooth paste that would be the consistency of smooth yogurt. You may also use raw, organic honey instead of water.
  • Apply the mixture to damp, freshly cleansed skin using your fingertips or a soft facial brush.
  • Let the Flower Mask sit on the skin and work its magic for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse thoroughly.
  • The mask must remain moist for the duration of the treatment, except for very oily skin which can benefit from allowing the mask to dry.
