RAINBOWS + CHAKRAS ~ OH MY! JUICE SERIES #2

THE VITALITY & WISDOM OF ORANGE - SACRAL CHAKRA #2

FEATURING DR. ALKAITIS' NOURISHING TREATMENT OIL

A word from Trish Alkaitis:

Hello wise ones,

This month is all about the vitality and wisdom of the color orange!

As we approach summer, I have become aware of being drawn to certain colors, and orange is the one I crave the most. With its energetic tangerine brightness, I just can’t help but feel joyful when I see it.

I was recently traveling in California and photographing flowers when I came across the simple yet elegant California poppy. It creates a low blanket of brilliant pops of golden butterscotch anywhere it can grow. There’s an elegant playfulness to this flower that always brings a smile to my face. Dancing with simple sweetness in gentle breezes, this little flower has a big personality. It opens wide during the day and then tightly folds into itself at dusk as it goes to sleep.

To me, orange represents pure joy, bliss, vitality, and holds a vibration of sacred wisdom.

When I was contemplating our incredible Nourishing Treatment Oil and how it relates to the color 'orange', my mind immediately went to India. Many of the ingredients in this product have their roots (literally) in India and are influenced by the science of Ayurveda. I had a vision of all the meditative monks slowly floating along in their saffron-draped robes.

They say the robes symbolize the color of fire. That fire burns away darkness and brings light, symbolizing knowledge burning ignorance. These simple cotton robes are customarily hand-dyed with various plant substances to achieve variations of the color 'fire'. They use roots (such as turmeric), tubers, plants, bark, leaves, flowers, fruits, spices, and minerals to achieve this.

Isn't nature grand? She gives us everything we need. Here is another fabulous juice recipe + a special bonus bath retreat ritual from Holly to stir your creative passions and inner bliss…

Q: Holly, tell us how the color orange and the sacral chakra inspired your juice recipe?

A: The sacral chakra is located in the lower abdomen, genitals, womb, kidneys, bladder, and circulatory system. It represents our feelings, desires, sexuality, and procreation. The color orange and the element of water correspond to the sacral chakra. With all of that in mind, I wanted to create a nutritious juice rich in orange fruits and vegetables that also contain high amounts of water to keep the body hydrated and encourage a healthy flow of nutrients throughout our blood to nourish each of these corresponding regions, functions, and the body as a whole.

Q: Which Dr. Alkaitis product have you chosen to highlight for this particular chakra?

A: The Dr. Alkaitis Nourishing Treatment Oil and the new branded Dr. Alkaitis Gua Sha Tool. The Nourishing Treatment Oil is a beautiful therapeutic blend of high-quality organic oils such as Andean Mountain Rose Hip Seed Oil, Ayurvedic herbs such as turmeric and Ashwagandha, grasses, vitamins, and antioxidants. It’s great for the face, body, and scalp, and can treat many skin conditions including stretch marks, scars, wrinkles, eczema, psoriasis, and dry scalp, to name a few. It's magic in a bottle all on its own, but it beautifully pairs with the ancient Chinese healing technique Gua Sha, which stimulates circulation and increases blood flow. It's the perfect duo for healthy skin and balancing this particular chakra, as it's all about movement.

Also, Trish, since we're working with the element of water, along with the juice recipe, I thought I'd share an additional home spa ritual that I love to perform. It's super easy and a lovely way to cleanse our mind, body, and emotions.

Simply take a warm bath and add whatever makes you happy, such as Epsom salts, essential oils, or flowers. Embrace the warmth of the water and envision all the wonderful things you are grateful for and would like to have more of in your life. Then, when you empty the water after bathing, imagine all the negative thoughts, doubts, and emotions that you carry inside, preventing you from achieving those healthy desires. Visualize all that negative energy swirling with the bathwater down the drain, cleansing your body, mind, and heart. It's a beautiful fresh start. I love this simple practice and find it works well for me.

Juice Recipe:

  • 1/2 Cantaloupe
  • 4 Carrots
  • 1 Orange Bell Pepper
  • 2-Inch Piece of Turmeric Root
  • 1/2 Head of Romaine Lettuce
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • Pinch of Black Pepper

Health Benefits of Juice Ingredients:

Cantaloupe: It's super hydrating, consisting of almost 90% water, and supports healthy kidneys, digestion, and blood pressure. It's also high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Folate, and Potassium.

Carrots: They are rich in Vitamin A and C, may regulate blood pressure, and boost immunity.

Orange Bell Pepper: With 92% water content, it's rich in Vitamin A and C and high in antioxidants.

Turmeric Root: Its active ingredient, Curcumin, is a natural anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants.

Romaine Lettuce: With 95% water content, it's high in Vitamin A, C, & K.

Cucumber: With 96% water content, it's rich in electrolytes.

Lemon: It's rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants and may prevent kidney stones.

Black Pepper: Just a pinch is added to this juice to increase the bioavailability of the active ingredient in turmeric, which is curcumin.

Let us know if you've tried this recipe and bath ritual! We would love to hear from you.

See you at the end of next month as we continue our chakra juice series.

Cheers!

Trish and Holly
