At the start of the pandemic in New York in 2020, I was a bit slow to get to the stores to stock up on essentials. By the time I got to my local health food store the shelves had been emptied. I panicked and realized I should probably get some extra cleaning products and hand sanitizer. Not a chance. Not one single bottle was left of anything, anywhere.

I called my father and asked him if he could make me something in the lab. He got to work right away, sending me 20 bottles at a time of his new hand purifier to share with friends and neighbors who also couldn’t find hand sanitizer anywhere.

I spent a good portion of the pandemic shipping them all over the country. It was great to feel useful and also to stay distracted.
