Question:

Dear Paisley,

I have little white bumps under my skin but they never seem to come to the surface. They're not exactly pimples, but more like congestion that appears to have a whitish appearance. Can you tell me what this is and recommend how to treat it? It seems the older I get the worse this condition becomes.

Thank you for your help!

Answer:

I'm always happy to give holistic skin care advice. It sounds like you are experiencing milium cysts or milia. They are very common and are nothing to be overly concerned about although I know they can be annoying. Milia occur when keratin (a protein) gets trapped beneath the skin. These are not extractable and it could cause great irritation if you tried.

The good news is that I have a wonderful Holistic Exfoliating Ritual to treat this issue:

    1. Start by cleansing your skin with the Dr. Alkaitis Organic Purifying Cleanser.
    2. Then apply the Dr. Alkaitis Organic Enzyme Exfoliating Mask, mixed with organic raw honey, on any problem areas. Use warm compresses to keep the mask moist and to induce a deeper relaxation. Remove the mask after about 10 minutes with a gentle warm compress.
    3. Apply the Dr. Alkaitis Organic Soothing Gel .
    4. If your skin is feeling dry add a few drops of the Dr. Alkaitis Organic Nourishing Treatment Oil to the Soothing Gel.

You can repeat this process every 2 to 3 days until your condition improves.

Your skin & spirit will feel so refreshed!

This holistic exfoliating ritual, with a bit of patience and time, will gently exfoliate the layer of dead skin cells away allowing your skin to breathe and will eventually remove the frustrating milia.

Be certain to stay hydrated inside & out! Keep up with this Holistic exfoliating ritual on a regular basis to keep your skin clear & bright.

Thanks! When increased exfoliation doesn’t work, I have clients commit to a facial Gua Sha practice. I’ve seen this help. I think the increase of movement in tissues and chi (I am not a Chinese Medicine practitioner) decreases their formation.
